Description

Willy Seiler lived in Karuizawa heights in Japan right after World War II. He produced many copperplate etchings depicting people and picturesque landscapes of Japan. His prints were marketed for the allied forces stationed near Tokyo. He captured the quaintness of the East with superb draftsmanship.
This one depicts an old man sitting in the morning sunshine. He is lighting his tobacco pipe.
