Sandra's Go Fund me fundraiser for cerebral cancer

'My name is Sandra. I studied engineering, although I made the valuable and brave decision to follow my dream and became an illustrator and writer. You might know me on, or not, social media as Drasan. During the pandemic, I received two things: an incredible gift, and the best thing in my life, my son Arnau. And the worst and cruelest thing I could have ever imagined, a brain tumor the size of a fist. They say God shuffles and deals, but you play the hand. Luckily, He put some cards within my reach that led me by the hand to Dr. Cordero and his neurology team, who, giving their all, managed to remove everything visible, which turned out to be 95% of the tumor.'

(a) How would you describe your artistic style?
My style would be a kind of neo-expressionism in painting and intimate figurative with elements of fantasy in drawing
(b)When did you first realize that you wanted to become an artist?
I have always liked art, but I considered it as a profession only after meeting other artists outside the gallery circuit who could make a living with illustration and graphic design, for example.
(c)Is there a work of art or an artist that has changed your life? If so, which one(s) and how did it change your life?
Conrad Roset was one of those illustrators who made me see that it was possible to create art that was more approachable and applicable to more sectors. Then all the classic artists like Van Gogh, Frida Kahlo, Magritte, Picasso, and a long list who inspire me so much both for their lives and their work.
(d)What advice would you give to someone who wants to pursue a life in art?
The advice I was given: draw, draw, and draw. I would say experiment without fear of the blank page, mix things up, and let your works serve to bring out and share what’s inside you, whether it’s good or bad.
The Connor Contemporary writes; “I’ve been an admirer and collector of Sandra’s work for many years. Her pieces have a quiet, hypnotic beauty that draws you in and lingers in the mind.
Sandra begins with hand-drawn imagery and then completes each piece digitally, creating work that is visually striking and, at times, emotionally provocative—in the very best way. Here at The Connor Contemporary, we’re proud to showcase more than twenty of her limited edition prints and original works, many already beautifully framed. I’m excited to see how Sandra’s practice continues to evolve and look forward to bringing even more of her art to our collectors in the future.”
