Women in Art by Women of Art - Candice Tripp

Candice Tripp is a South Africa born artist living in the North East of England.
At 21 her darkly humorous paintings caught the eye of a local gallery who provided the platform for her first solo show.
At 22 her work was being exhibited in LA. child-like subjects pluck at adult themes in paintings whose narrative provide all the answers one could expect to find on single page torn from a picture book.
As a self taught painter, her ever-evolving practice now extends to include etching, sculpture, brass work and full scale installation.

Candice has had solo shows in London and New York, provided the award-winning artwork for Arrow Video's release of Donnie Darko and exhibited in the first inaugural Bangkok Art Biennale in 2018.

Having spent thirty years studying art, landscapes, impressionism and Japanese woodblock prints, I stumbled into a local art gallery and found the hauntingly beautiful art of Candice Tripp and my passion for contemporary art began.

Paul Writes:
Her work features children that are experiencing adult themes, Candice's art is, often, dark and otherworldly, challenging at times, featuring taboo subjects but what makes her art so stunning is her artistic ability, which is exemplary.
Everyone who sees her art are captivated by the stunning beauty of her compositions, colours and creativity.
Candice's art includes working with oils, gouache, etching, jewellery and sculpture and is a master at all these mediums and she has created a unique and absorbing genre.
