Alexandra Gallagher's Print Circle

I’m always on the lookout for new and meaningful ways to bring art to life—whether by uncovering the stories behind each image, delving into the symbolism of the colors and composition, or examining how artists engage with people in their daily lives. One of my favorite methods to witness this connection is through monthly art subscriptions. I’ve subscribed to several myself—some from artists I already feature and admire, and others from creators I’m just beginning to explore, along with the unique processes that shape their work.'

The first artist I subscribed to is Alexandra Gallagher, one of the artists I showcase in the gallery.

Alexandra is an award-winning, multimedia artist whose energy, imagination, and work ethic are evident in everything she creates—not to mention she’s smart, engaging, and wonderfully witty in person.

Alexandra recently spoke about her April's Print Circle:

'Aprils print is about to drop and it’s not too late to sign up to my Print Circle! Link is in the bio if you want to become a member! 💖

At the beginning of the year, I created a piece inspired by new tiny shoots emerging, a reflection on new beginnings and fresh starts. Now, as we move into May, it feels like that idea has truly come to life.

April, has been a month of growth and a bit weird really. Everywhere I’ve looked, there have been signs in nature, in the changing season, and, in many ways, within my own personal world. Spring has arrived with what feels uplifting…. Honestly a bit of sunshine in the U.K and everyone seems to be in the best of moods 🤣

I can’t quite explain it, but it genuinely feels like a fresh start. Maybe it’s Uranus finally fucking off out of Taurus after seven years.

Alongside this, I’ve found myself drawn to clearing space, both physically and mentally. I’ve been working through storage and giving my home a proper reset, a full purge. In doing so, I’ve uncovered pieces of the past I hadn’t thought about in years. Decades, even. Some of you have given what I’ve found new homes in my studio sale … I found another box yesterday so expect more to go up tomorrow! There’s T-shirts!!!

All in all, it’s been a strange month, very reflective and I think this new piece for the Print Circle April drop reflects this … maybe? What do you think? '

My practical view on the concept of a print club is that it serves as an accessible gateway for individuals who are newly exploring the realms of contemporary art or who are interested in the specific works of a particular artist. For as little as the cost of a few coffees, one can not only acquire a tangible piece of art created by an acclaimed artist but also gain a deeper understanding of their creative process and artistic vision through a personal monthly letter. This letter often includes insights into the artist's latest projects, thoughts on their work, and reflections on the art world at large, which can enrich the experience of owning the artwork. Moreover, the print club offers an opportunity to build a connection with the artist, fostering a sense of community among subscribers who share a passion for art. Each month, members can look forward to receiving not just a print but also a curated experience that enhances their appreciation of the art form. This initiative not only democratizes art ownership but also encourages dialogue and engagement with contemporary artistic practices. Additionally, the print club can serve as a thoughtful gift option for family members or friends who have a keen interest in art. Subscribing on behalf of someone else allows you to share the joy of collecting art and experiencing the narratives behind each piece. It’s a unique way to introduce someone to the art world, providing them with a regular dose of inspiration and creativity. This thoughtful gesture can spark conversations, cultivate appreciation for the arts, and ultimately enrich the lives of those who receive such a gift, making it a perfect choice for birthdays, holidays, or special occasions. In essence, a print club is not just about art; it’s about building connections, fostering creativity, and sharing experiences that transcend the mere act of collecting.
