Maya, Me and Murals - In search of street art and a trip to Whitstable, Kent in search of the art of Catman.

Maya the Malamute Mix and myself have tasked ourselves to track down street art within the Kent area also covering London. We both (one more than the other) have a fascination and admiration of the artistic expression and today we visited Whitstable to track down a number of pieces by local artist Catman ( www.catmanartist.com )

As you can see Maya is a fan of street art and I have not in any way made her pose for any of the photos, honest....
I first met the artist 7-8 years ago when we co-ran a pop up shop in Canterbury and I have been a fan of his work ever since and followed his rise to him being an established and recognisable stencil artist.

Whitstable is a charming town on the south east coast and offers the visitor history, culture and plenty of shops and activities.

Time Out did a 'Best things to do article in 2025 - www.timeout.com/whitstable/things-to-do/a-perfect-day-in-whitstable

They described Whitstable as Glorious in summer but equally as charming when it’s raining, this seaside town is one of the best in the UK, immaculately designed for drinking, eating, sunbathing and general mooching to your heart’s content.

I visited for my daughter's dental check up and the street art.

As you can see from these images, his work is unique, thoughtful and witty and he has become popular producing street art, murals and posters for the general public, clients and companies.
But I guess, he is more well known for being Whitstable's famous street artist and any visit to the town is worthy of a search to track down his creations.

Street Art terms - Tags

'Tags are one of the primary forms of modern graffiti, along with throw ups and pieces. The act of writing a tag is known as tagging. Tags are often thought of as the simplest form of graffiti art, prioritizing flow and style,[1] and are the form that most artists start with. Tags, perhaps due to their simplicity, are more likely to be considered vandalism than other more elaborate graffiti styles.
Tags are an artist signature and vary through uniqueness and methods'
