Women in Art by Women of Art - Kathrina Rupit (KinMx)

Kathrina Rupit aka KinMx is a visual artist living between Dublin, Ireland and Tulum, Mexico.
Born in the north of Mexico, Kathrina graduated from the University of Visual Arts in Nuevo Leon.
Kathrina began painting murals in the early part of her life.
After university, she ventured to travel outside of Mexico on her own, surviving by selling her art on the streets and eventually landing in Ireland, settling in Dublin, she has since become a prominent figure in Ireland’s street art scene.

As an artist, KinMx’s motivations are focused on environmental conservation and sustainability.
Kathrina is currently building an art and research centre in Tulum. It will focus on the exchange of sustainable practices and knowledge from indigenous and native communities to future generations of artists and makers.

Kathrina writes:
'I am an interdisciplinary artist working across large-scale murals, mixed media, installations, live painting, and art exhibitions. My practice bridges contemporary street art, material research, and cultural storytelling, often engaging directly with public space and community.
I collaborate internationally with institutions, festivals, brands, embassies, councils, and collectives, using art as a means of connection, dialogue, and shared experience.
Alongside my studio practice, I am developing an off-grid Art & Research Centre in the Tulum jungle, an experimental space dedicated to sustainable making, cross-cultural exchange, and artistic work rooted in ecological awareness.
With over 15 years of practice, my work has been exhibited internationally across Europe, the Americas, and Asia.I am grateful to have my work featured in multiple international art publications, including Street Art by Women +50 Essential Contemporary Artists by Diego Lopez...'
