Dog, man, street art! - Canterbury and Catman

As part of the ongoing 'Dog, man, street art' series Maya (my dog and art critic) and I took a trip to Canterbury for the sole purpose of tracking down this great piece of art by Kent street artist Catman www.catmanartist.com
I met Catman probably a decade ago when we shared pop up exhibition space in Canterbury and have been a fan of him and his art ever since, so a trip to Canterbury was always on the cards!
The artwork features from left to right, Picasso, Jean Michel Basquiat, Salvador Dali, Andy Warhol and Keith Haring all giants in the art world.
For those visiting Canterbury, the piece is located just off the main walkway, in the town centre close to the recently closed Debenhams.
In my opinion Catman is a technically gifted artist, who combines skill, a sense of humour and a love of the history of art to produce stunning pieces that reflect societal issues and topical subjects,
You can find his artwork around Kent, especially Whitstable.

Biography:
After completing a foundation course at KIAD in Canterbury, Catman then specialised in Architectural Model Making which he studied at The University of Creative Arts Rochester (UCA).
Whilst producing scaled down architectural models he became adept at using a scalpel to create intricate detail, a technique he uses today whilst creating his multi-layered stencils.
Years later, after realising how much he missed art and painting, he returned to Canterbury UCA to study Fine Art where he re-gained his passion to paint and create in various mediums.
