Dog, man, street art - Hackney Wick, London, UK

Writer: Paul ConnorPaul Connor

'Maya, myself and my daughter Jordan visited Hackney to have Fetcher Dog tattoos done from the folks at Red Moon Tattoo Studio in Hackney Wick and while there Maya and I checked out the street art.
Street art, here, is everywhere and is varied, vibrant and very cool, on walls, fences and buildings. The images are of a small selection.
Maya is a country girl but adores the smells and the hustle and bustle of city life as she was a Sarajevo street dog.

'You can take the girl out of the city but not the city out of the girl'

Hackney is worth a visit for the art, the coffee shops and is a trendy area of East London that even has \ dedicated website
for it's street art, it's close to the Olympic park and is worth checking out.

Street art is a recent widespread phenomena, that really started to flourish in the 1980's with Keith Haring, Haze and Shepard Fairey being some of the artists leading the way.
I admire artists in general for there creativity, uniqueness and artistic skills but street art feels organic, urban and a raw form of expression that can be achieved by anyone, from all walks of life and cultures, can be relatively cheap to produce and only asks for one thing, talent. (and perhaps a permit to allow you to paint!)
